Unboxed and perched on top of a couple of suitably sturdy stands (each speaker weighs a hefty 10kg / 22.8lb), the Dynaudios look clean and classy, and build quality is solid. That smooth frontage is helped by the fact that any mounting screws are hidden from view and embedded in the surface of the speaker.
The only element of fuss is a slightly angled top edge of the front baffle. It's a very subtle design element, though, and matches up with the top edge of the black magnetic grilles should you choose to use them.
Elsewhere the finish is up to the standards you'd expect at the money. The Emit 20 cabinets are made from 18mm MDF and available in three different custom laminate finishes: Black, White and Walnut.
The drive units might not be as eye-catching as those used in rival speakers like the KEF LS50 Meta, but as we've already mentioned, there's plenty of impressive engineering above and beneath the surface.
Taking it from the top, the Emit 20 start with a 28mm soft dome Cerotar tweeter lifted from the company's Evoke series.

A key feature of this tweeter is the Hexis inner dome, which sits just behind the main dome. It controls airflow back into a rear chamber which reduces unwanted resonances behind the fabric dome. According to Dynaudio, this helps to deliver «even cleaner, sweeter high-frequencies».
Beneath the tweeter, the Emit 20 use a one-piece 18cm MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer) mid-bass woofer (up from 17cm on the old M20), based on the one found in the Evoke series. The driver uses a dual-stacked ferrite-ceramic magnet system so its movement can be better controlled.
The mid/bass driver and tweeter work together using a custom-designed crossover from the same team behind Dynaudio's Heritage Special and Core speakers. The Emit 20 use a hybrid first- and second-order design for the tweeter and woofer respectively.
On the back of the Emit 20 you'll find single-wired connections and a new dual-flared bass-reflex port. A rear-firing port arrangement makes speakers more sensitive to placement, so we'd try to refrain from tucking the '20s up against a rear wall or into the corners of a room. We also found a little toe-in towards our listening position helped give the stereo image greater focus.

When it comes to home theater system setup, AV receivers made by Marantz and Denon are well suited to your Dynaudio Emit M20 sonic characteristics as they are smooth sounding with a touch of warmth. This helps to ease the harshness at high volumes and the Marantz AV receiver like the SR7015 is great for multi-channel soundtracks. Both brands also have Audyssey which is a room correction technology to help improve the speakers' sound quality in a given listening room. In an HT setup, you will definitely need to include an active subwoofer. The Dynaudio Sub 3 will be a good choice since it is from the same company and will have a similar signature sound to work cohesively together. It is also a compact size active sub. For more impact and power, you may want to check out Dynaudio Sub 6 instead. Еще дальше идут напольники: поменьше — Dynaudio Emit 30, а новинка в линейке — старшие Emit 50. Они уже совсем большие, имеют три полосы и смотрятся очень серьезно. Есть предчувствие, что, если им доведется вступить в похожий бой с соперниками по нише, те покорно отступят только от одного взгляда на Emit 50: очень строгие, особенно в черном цвете, а лаконичность дизайна просто покоряет!
А еще есть центральный канал Emit 25C. Естественно, его сделали в той же парадигме — и тоже получился красавчик!

Our first impression of the Emit 20 is that, for standmounters, they sound big and display an impressive sense of scale. We start with Kanye West's Black Skinhead played through our reference Burmester 088/911Mk3 pre/power amplifier and Naim ND555/555 PS DR music streamer, and the Emit 20 immediately explode into life, producing a wide-open sound field and an impressive sense of scale. Each drum thwack sounds solid and hits with authority before the speakers delve down to retrieve the darker, more probing bass notes of the track. There's good weight to low frequencies too, but the speakers never sound heavy-handed and leave plenty of space for textures to shine.
Venture higher up the frequency range and the Dynaudios show they're also seriously sophisticated speakers. Highs are a particular highlight when we play the end credits from Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. String instruments sound sweet and refined with it. You're left in no doubt these are a serious step up from entry-level, budget speakers.
We switch electronics and swap out our Burmester amplification for something a little more price comparable. In this instance, it's the Naim Nait XS3. We also move on to Mountains by Bat For Lashes and the Dynaudios surf that retro '80s synth wave effortlessly. The highs, the lows, the sweeping vocal and the crisp chimes all pique our interest. The speakers dig out an impressive level of detail across the board and manage to balance analysis and entertainment. They're capable of presenting you with plenty of information without sucking the life out of the music.

So, it's all positives so far, but the longer you listen, the more apparent it becomes that something's missing. All the elements are there and sound impressive in their own right, but when it comes to gluing them together and capturing the essence of the music, the Emit 20 can't quite match the very best at this level. For example, the KEF LS50 Meta offer a completely different flavour of sound. This in itself is no bad thing, but the KEFs communicate the dynamics and the timing of the track in a slightly more natural and believable way.
Playing The Streets' Blinded By The Light, the Dynaudios aren't as convincing in the way they deliver Mike Skinner's narration. As his night progresses and there's a sudden shift in mood and panic sets in, the dynamic shift in delivery isn't quite as apparent. The KEFs, on the other hand, just manage to communicate what's going on more clearly.

Похоже, это особый вид искусства: взгляд цепляется за него именно тогда, когда вроде бы не за что зацепиться. Дополнить эту изысканность могут грили черного цвета, которые прикроют лицевую панель — но не целиком, а оставят небольшие «просветы» сверху и снизу. Такое решение придает еще больше воздушности и без того легко смотрящейся конструкции Emit 20, даже несмотря на не вполне компактные габариты и вес.
Корпус оклеен пленкой с тонкой текстурой. Пожалуй, это единственный момент, где удалось найти попытку Dynaudio как-то удешевить линейку Emit. Опасаться здесь нечего, так как и подгонка панелей кабинета из МДФ толщиной 18 мм, и оклейка везде отличная: все швы и стыки просто идеальны. Короче говоря, в сборке кабинетов датчане продолжают следовать своим традициям — и это не может не радовать.
Из украшений здесь только надпись «Dynaudio» в нижней части лицевой панели, которая проявляется даже тогда, когда вы надеваете гриль с магнитными креплениями: на нем имеется такой же шильдик, в том же месте.
Sonic Characteristics and Merits of Dynaudio Emit M20
They may be entry-level bookshelf speakers at an affordable price range but they do sure look good. The speaker cabinet design does make them look premium, and even with the speaker grille on, the Dynaudio Emit M20 still looks stylish. Taking off the grille, you will see two drivers fit nicely at the front of the speaker cabinet. There is a 28mm soft dome tweeter and below it, will be a 170mm MSP woofer unit. At the back of the cabinet, you will find a decent-sized bass port which does make us feel you could actually place the Emit M20 closer to the rear walls. The compact size of the bookshelf speakers does make them ideal desktop speakers for your PC or Mac sound system.
The speaker sensitivity is only 86dB which we did expect to be this low. The impedance is at 4 Ohms, with these two specs, it is quite obvious the Dynaudio Emit M20 speakers are difficult to drive. Their peak power handling is 150 Watts and we should get an amplifier that has a power output of at least half of it, also able to drive a 4 Ohms speaker. These requirements do remove quite a number of potential amplifiers from the list. The frequency response is 50Hz-23kHz which is really good. The visual design of the Dynaudio Emit M20 makes it quite easy to match them with most modern amplifiers and aesthetic mismatch shouldn't be an issue. They should look great in your listening room too.
The Dynaudio Emit M20 is no ordinary bookshelf speaker, the scale of the sound is really impressive especially coming from a compact speaker is considered quite a monumental sonic feat. The low-frequency performance is equally impressive and contributed to how big they sound. The bass is tight and well-controlled but does lack the refinement and could be richer in details though. Still, the Emit M20 is very entertaining to listen to, the bass reproduction matches well with the energetic musical performance. Providing us with plenty of impactful crescendos, not to mention, the Dynaudio Emit M20 punches way above its weight.
The energy and enthusiastic sonic characters of the Emit M20 speakers do not compromise the details. Each music presentation of our favorite tunes is simply engaging, it may not be as faithful but it sure is fun to listen to. The Dynaudio Emit M20 is one of the most lively speakers on the market and yet still sound quite refined, expertly producing each attack with impeccable timing and precision. The bass performance is really incredible, not to mention, it is ample enough to even let us think that maybe these compact bookshelf speakers do not need the support of a subwoofer. Bass fanatics who are looking for a pair of stereo speakers should certainly check out Dynaudio Emit M20.
A subwoofer will be needed for an exhilarating home cinematic experience or for music with plenty of deep bass notes such as movie soundtracks since these speakers will require support after about 60Hz and below. They will make terrific desktop speakers for nearfield listening as well. The highs are mainly smooth sounding but tend to sound a bit bright especially at higher volumes. At this price point, the Dynaudio Emit M20 is quite an awesome all-rounder and well worth the investment. What's more important is that we really enjoy listening to them. After learning more about the Dynaudio Emit M20 loudspeakers, we can finally decide and list out the best matching amplifiers that we should get. There's a lot to like about the Dynaudio Emit 20. They're capable of a fantastic sense of scale for a pair of standmounters, and some elements, especially that refined, sophisticated treble and midrange, are real highlights.
But when it comes to communicating a track in its entirety and piecing together all the different pieces of the sonic jigsaw, they don't do it as effectively as the very best at this level.

Чтобы правильно подключить колонки, нужно правильно выбрать и кабели, их соединяющие. Правильные провода — залог хорошего звука. Самые популярные — это так называемые многожильные кабели с низким сопротивлением. Передача звукового сигнала в этом случае наилучшая.
Кстати, если выбирать специализированные кабели для акустики, за качество звука можно сильно не переживать. Даже если они не дорогие, звук все равно будет неплох, так как это — специальные провода.
Но, чем длиннее провод, тем хуже может быть качество звука. Частично решить проблему можно, если подключать АС через два кабеля. Например, ВЧ подключаются через толстые жилы в меньшем числе, а НЧ — через тонкие, но в большом количестве.
