Dolby Atmos and Dolby Surround upmixer

Onkyo TX-NR737 supports Dolby Atmos. It can be configured upto 5.1.2 channels using internal amplifiers.

Dolby Atmos is the first cinematic audio format in which sounds exist as individual entities, called audio objects. In Dolby Atmos, any sound — the helicopter, a car screeching around a corner, a melodic bird call — can exist as an independent audio object, free of channel restrictions. They can be precisely placed and moved anywhere in your room, including overhead, to flow above and around you in three-dimensional space. Through the use of audio objects, overhead sound, and all the richness, clarity, and power of Dolby sound, Dolby Atmos turns your room into an amazing place for entertainment. You'll feel like you're inside the action, in ways you've never experienced before.

Dolby Atmos for the home represents every sound in the original cinema mix as an audio object. Extensions to the Dolby Audio codecs, along with an advanced scalable algorithm, allow Dolby Atmos to be delivered via Blu-ray Disc and streaming media. A spatially-coded substream is added to Dolby TrueHD or Dolby Digital Plus. A Dolby Atmos audio/video receiver (AVR) adapts the cinema experience to your home theater from seven speakers to as many as 34 in 24.1.10 configuration, recreating the original artistic concept. The format supports up to 128 simultaneous independent audio objects in a mix for rich, realistic, and breathtaking sound. It recreates the director's original concept through descriptive metadata to provide customized playback for home theater and delivers sounds above you through overhead speakers, special upward-firing Dolby Atmos speakers, or a Dolby Atmos enabled sound bar.

If the content is not mixed in Dolby Atmos then the Dolby surround upmixer will expand the audio to all channels including ceiling speakers. The upmixer has replaced the Dolby Pro Logic II family with improved upmixing algorithms.

Advanced Music Optimizer

Compressed music enhancement in Onkyo TX-NR737 is done by Onkyo's Advanced Music Optimizer. While MP3 or AAC files may sound fine through the headphones of your portable digital player, the limitations of these files can be exposed when played back through a quality home entertainment system. This is because a significant amount of high-frequency bit information is lost during the file-compression process. To counter this, Onkyo has designed the Advanced Music Optimizer to compensate for lost bit information and improve the quality of compressed audio signals. This results in a clearer and more expansive sound. Also included in this technology is a loudness correction feature that further improves the audio character of compressed files.

Phase-Matching Bass Boost

Onkyo TX-NR737 features Phase-Matching Bass Boost. The negative effects of phase-shift or the timing difference between sound waves of different frequencies can sometimes be heard in audio players when corners are cut in order to increase bass response. While most audio systems have some form of low-frequency enhancement system, often a bigger bass sound comes at the expense of mid-range clarity, and results in a smeared or muddy sound. Onkyo's Phase-Matching Bass Boost technology avoids this problem by improving the phase timing to preserve the natural clarity of the mid-range allowing vocals and strings to shine while maintaining a smooth, powerful bass response at all volume levels.

THX listening modes make the receiver to have one speaker set up for movies, music and games. They are tested for power output, bass management, signal-to-noise ratio and feature RE-EQ, timbre matching, boundary gain compensation and THX Loudness Plus. The current model has Select2 Plus class performance. This means that it is ideally suited for a room where the screen-to-seat viewing distance is approximately 3 to 4 meters, and the room size is approximately 56 cubic meters.

Компания Onkyo анонсировала выпуск новой hi-fi аппаратуры для домашнего кинотеатра, обеспечивающего высочайшее многоканальное звучание в формате 7,2 — A/V ресиверы TX-NR737 и TX-NR838. В обеих
моделях применена технология широкополосного усиления (WRAT), построенная на базе трехкаскадных обратных схем усиления Дарлингтона, с использованием мощных низкошумящих транзисторных выходных
каскадов с малым выходным импедансом, что позволяет обеспечить отличную динамичность, ясный, насыщенный звук и энергичный бас, при минимальных искажениях. Это достигается также благодаря
использованию в цепи питания мощного трансформатора и фильтрующих конденсаторов большой емкости с низким внутренним сопротивлением и коротких шин питания. За обработку цифровых сигналов отвечает
двухканальный 32 битный DSP-процессор в сочетании с ЦАП BurrBrown, обеспечивающим преобразование звука с разрешением до 192кГц/24бит, позволяя легко декодировать такие форматы высокого разрешения,
как DolbyTrueHD, DTS-HD MasterAudio и DSD5.6 МГц.

Для ценителей аналогового звука в новинках предусмотрен порт для прямого подключения проигрывателя виниловых пластинок. При этом специально предусмотренный режим, отключающий какую либо пост-обработку
входящего аналогового сигнала. Входной аудиосигнал поступает непосредственно на аналоговый вход усилителя A/V ресивера, после чего поступает непосредственно на акустику.

Для подключения аудио/видео источников в обоих ресиверах имеется семь HDMI-входов (6 на задней панели и один на фронтальной с поддержкой MHL, для подключения мобильных гаджетов). При этом первых четыре
входа и один фронтальный, поддерживают передачу видео материала в формате 4K/60 Гц. HDMI-выходов всего два. HDMI-вход под номером 3 и основной HDMI-выход поддерживает технологию HDCP2.2, позволяя A/V ресиверам
воспроизводить защищенные от копирования видеопотоки, записанные на диск или полученные с интернета или спутникового телевиденья высокой четкости в формате 4К. Для моделей, не имеющих поддержки HDCP2.2 передача
видео формата UltraHD доступна лишь в разрешении 576i и 480i.

Дополнительным плюсом ресиверов является технология Qdeo, позволяющая производить масштабирование видеосигнала низкого разрешения от устаревших консолей, DVD или потоковое видео через медиа-плеер в
форматы FullHD или 4K (в зависимости от подключенного монитора).

Среди мультирумных функций, доступна возможность организовывать передачу видео с разрешением до 1080p и стереозвучание во второй зоне с управлением через смартфон или электронику «умного дома», подробнее о
котором можно прочесть в этом материале. В TX-NR737 дополнительно предусмотрен отдельный HDMI-выход, позволяющий подключить проектор.

Еще больше возможностей предоставляет встроенный модуль беспроводной связи Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi и порт Ethernet, позволяя воспроизводить различные музыкальные форматы, в числе которых DSD5.6МГц, DolbyTrueHD,
а также WAV и FLAC в качестве 192кГц/24бит, с сетевых хранилищ, поддерживающих DLNA, медиа-серверов или мобильных устройств, а также с интернет сервисов TuneInRadio, Pandora, Aupeo, Spotify и др.

Управление воспроизведением осуществляется с помощью пульта ДУ, специального ПО, устанавливаемого на планшет или смартфон, или с помощью панели управления, с выводом информации на матричный графический
дисплей ресиверов. В комплект поставки входит фирменный микрофон и система Onkyo AccuEQ, позволяющие производить калибровку звучания акустики, согласно особенностям конкретного помещения.
